I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Percona Live conference in San Francisco, about a week and a half ago (thanks to The Company, for sending me!). I'm not a MySQL DBA by any stretch of the imagination, and I don't keep tabs on the MySQL community. So this one-day conference was pretty high-value for me — there was very little overlap with knowledge that I had already accumulated. ;)
Peter Zaitsev, delivering the opening keynote.
I took a bunch of notes in each session. The claim is that the slide decks will be put online at some point, but as of this writing, they are not online yet. So, until then, I'm going to put my notes online. They were mainly written for my benefit, so I'm not sure how useful they'll be. Whenever possible, I tried to capture what was actually said, instead of what was on the slide.
- Opening Keynote - Beyond MySQL 5.1
- Percona Server with XtraDB
- Improvements to Performance in MySQL 5.5
- MySQL 5.5 and Fusion-io at Craigslist
- An Introduction to InnoDB Internals (only partial notes, I was in and out of this talk)
- Improving InnoDB performance with Flashcache
- State of Percona Server 5.5
- Building a MySQL HA solution on EC2
- Closing Keynote - High-value Transaction Processing
Anyway, hopefully that is useful. The key take-away for me is that I need to investigate the latest version of MySQL, 5.5. So, now you know what I'm going to be doing in March. ;)
