Fusion-IO and MySQL 5.5 at craigslist, Jeremy Zawodny MySQL 5.5 has innodb compression? saved 100 - 200gb of overhead, they compress pretty well. just did 2:1 compression xfs on raid boxes, also using xfs on Fusion-IO issues with trying to use intel drives, linux doesn't have trim support, degrade after lot of write cycles * all vendors are putting effort into wear leveling * even if they slow down 20%, they probably won't notice * think they can run full bore, and will replace machines before SSD runs out been live on fusion-io... * took awhile to trust them, had some initial issues with fan speed and firmware * have been pretty solid with latest drivers / firmware * taking full traffic for 2 weeks they don't trust replication, because when slave crashes, it might not start at the right place * they always re-clone when a slave db fails chose fusion-io because they were ready to try ssd, thought PCIe was better than SATA style, and Fusion-IO was best in market last year. more options now.
