  • Simultaneous Voice/Data, HD Voice Now Available to Verizon iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Users: I'm impressed -- Verizon rolled this out a lot faster than I expected. It's too late for me though, I switched to T-Mobile.

  • Tim Cook Interview: The iPhone 6, the Apple Watch, and Being Nice: Great peak inside Tim Cook's Apple.

  • iPhone 6 Plus review: I liked this review of the iPhone 6 Plus from Nilay Patel at The Verge. This bit stuck out:

"It’s also easier to take photos and videos with a huge screen helping you frame your shots. No wonder people insist on using their tablets to take photos; having a screen this large paired with such an excellent camera is revelatory."
While I was conservative and went with the "small" iPhone 6, I'm pretty curious what it would be like to have the larger iPhone 6 Plus.

  • Why T-Mobile needs Wi-Fi calling: its network can’t match AT&T and Verizon: I noticed some weakness with T-Mobile's network when I did the test drive, but because I knew that WiFi calling was coming, I switched. I have it enabled on my iPhone 6, but I didn't read the fine print, because apparently this is going to knock out continuity. Not sure how I feel about that.

  • Apple Watch: Asking Why and Saying No: Ben Thompson on the Apple Watch:

"Then came the introductory video, and we never got an explanation of why the Apple Watch existed, or what need it is supposed to fill. What is the market? Why does Apple believe it can succeed there? What makes the Apple Watch unique?"
I have to agree, it was a puzzling presentation in many respects. It's going to be pretty interesting to see how the Apple Watch lands in the market next year.

  • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Review: Which One Should You Get?: Joshua Topolosky with one of the more puzzling aspects of the iPhone 6 Plus:

"Battery life has been improved in the two models, but I’m sorry to report that even a big iPhone 6 doesn’t deliver an all-day charge if you’re a heavy user or in an area without strong wireless signals. It is better than the 5S, and the iPhone 6 Plus yields better results thanks to its size. This is a notable whiff given the fact that so many iPhone users have complained about the current model’s battery, and I think most consumers would have sacrificed some thinness for a more robust daily life span. "
This, and being RAM stingy, are the two biggest hardware blind spots with the iPhone.

  • A Brief Visual History of Apple Home Page Tabs: Very cool look back at Apple's navigation priorities. How weird is it that Mac hardware didn't get a dedicated tab until mid-2007? (via Michael Tsai)

  • DisplayPort 1.3 supports 5K displays, 4K at 120Hz: This is good news for Retina desktop display enthusiasts...
