MWSF2011 — Shed Worx

| Comments

I had never heard of this company, called ShedWorx. Apparently, they are new to the Mac (which is always great to see), and ported two applications form Windows:

  • Cosmos — like iPhoto, imports movies and photos, sync everything to cloud.
  • Jaksta — Captures streaming video, exports to iOS compatible formats.

Jaksta actually looks pretty cool — it sniffs network traffic, and can determine when you start watching a video stream (or audio stream), and captures it into a file, which can then be exported later. The demo showed capturing trailers from apple.com, youtube videos, and pandora audio streams. Services that are heavily encrypted (hulu, netflix, comedy central) aren't supported. It seems like this could be a decent way to capture some video that is only viewable in Flash, and watch it on your iOS device.
