The Corin Tucker Band, live in San Francisco

| Comments

Let's say it's Friday, and you discover that Corin Tucker (of a certain Olympia, WA-based rock band that you happen to like) has a new solo album out. This leads you to discover (thanks to Google), that Corin Tucker is touring in support of her new album. A tour which is coming to your town a mere 3 days later. You next discover yourself charging your credit card, buying a ticket for said show.

Then you wait patiently for 3 whole days.

And finally, you are treated to this:

And then, you knew it was going to work out.

While still being powerful rock music, Corin Tucker's solo work bears little resemblance to Sleater-Kinney. In fact, she neither brought her past band up, nor played any of their songs. Which was all well and good, because her new material is strong, and I can't wait to listen to it even more. Definitely recommended if you're a fan of Sleater-Kinney, or just good rock music in general.

P.S. — I managed to get a few more decent photos, up on Flickr.
