  • Scoop: TBS cancels 'My Boys': Dang! I really like this show, and I only recently discovered that the new season is on (which might have something to do with its cancellation...). (via Buzz Sugar)

  • Fighting The Wrong Fight: Elia Freedman nails it:

"I was just as equally excited when Google announced Android. The two most powerful companies in tech could surely go up against the four major carriers, reducing them to what they should be: regulated pipe providers just like your gas and electric company."

The struggles of the big telcos to fight becoming a "dumb pipe" has bugged me for years. And unfortunately, it looks like the problem is continuing to get worse. (via Daring Fireball)

  • Why This New Apple TV Makes Sense — For Now: MG Siegler on the new Apple TV:

"The problem Apple faces is the same problem that everyone faces: content agreements. Hollywood is proving much harder to convince than the music labels were. In a few years, if DVD sales keep falling and cable revenues start decreasing, they’ll be more receptive to new options."

I've been poking around on iTunes, and so far, I haven't rented a single TV show. Why? Because none of the shows that I went looking for were available to rent! Apple has decided to tie themselves to Hollywood content, yet Hollywood is constantly screwing them over. It seems like this logjam needs to break, somehow.
