  • Apple's trouble with TV: John Siracusa pretty-much nails it. I think that Apple TV is still going to be a hobby, until Apple cedes some control over the experience and adds apps.

  • A Big Bet on HTTP Live Streaming: Chris Adamson on Apple's live HTTP streaming protocol. By far, the biggest surprise from Wednesday's announcement was how well the live streaming worked. It was just like being there.

  • Matt Gemmell on iTunes 10: Pretty funny. (via Jesper)

  • Hands-on with iTunes Ping, sans Facebook Connect: Good overview of how to use Ping, Apple's new social network. I'm finding it to be a bit odd, myself. It's hard to add status updates, searching for people to follow is buggy, and there aren't many bands on there. All things that could be ironed out over time — we'll have to wait and see how much energy Apple invests in Ping.

  • Apple Exec Phil Schiller Talks Ping: Two interesting things: Phil Schiller emphasizes that Ping is focused on music, and that they wanted Apple TV to be focused on Hollywood content. An interesting dodge, as to why the new Apple TV doesn't run apps (which it so obviously should).

  • iPad just-slightly insufficiently futurey.: Jamie Zawinski actually likes the iPad. Amazing.
