  • Microsoft says Android infringes on its patents, licenses HTC: It's a good thing we have software patents, which force companies to compete with each other in the market place, building better and better products for us to buy.

Yeah, right. I suppose I should be surprised that Microsoft has found a way to take something that's free (Android) and make it non-free. The only surprising part is that Apple was able to twist HTC's arms — considering that they need HTC to make Windows Phones.

  • HP buys Palm: the liveblog: Engadget's coverage of HP's conference call is the best that I've seen so far. I think it's a bit of a bummer that Palm isn't going to remain an independent company, but they might be able to still do some great work as part of HP. But I think that the odds of me going the Palm route for a new phone this year just went way down.

  • Developers speak up on the 2010 ADAs: Lame that Mac OS X software is left out from the Apple Design Awards this year, but Paul Kafasis sums it up:

"Ultimately, the ADAs have always been about what Apple wants to promote - it's never been like the Oscars, where the categories are stable. Each year, they've focused on their currently favored technologies (see Best Automator Workflow (2006) or Best iPhone Web App (2008)), and the current technologies this year are all about the iPhone OS."

  • New iPhone Could Hit Stores During Apple’s Developer Conference: While Apple might start taking orders for the next iPhone at WWDC, I sincerely doubt that it will be available for sale. The iPhone 4 OS is only at beta 2 status, and probably has quite a ways to go before it is solid enough for release.
