Teaching Ruby to High School Girls: Great blog post from Sarah Mei, describing how she taught Ruby to a group of high schoolers. Always great to read about efforts that make programming easier to learn.

The looming crisis in human genetics: The Economist:
"Human geneticists have reached a private crisis of conscience, and it will become public knowledge in 2010. The crisis has depressing health implications and alarming political ones. In a nutshell: the new genetics will reveal much less than hoped about how to cure disease, and much more than feared about human evolution and inequality, including genetic differences between classes, ethnicities and races."
How Robber Barons hijacked the "Victorian Internet": Interesting look at the history of the telegraph, in the context of the corporations who controlled it. I think that this adds a bit more grist for the mill that is the Net Neutrality debate.
Panasonic Lumix GF1 Field Test — 16 Days in the Himalayas: A really great camera review -- Craig Mod took the camera on a trip through Nepal, and mixes in stories (and photos) from his trip with a critique of the Lumix GF1. Worth a read, even if you're not interested in the camera. (via Daring Fireball)
International Performance Seen Driving iPhone and iPod Touch Growth - Mac Rumors: This is why I believe the rumors that Apple wanted to buy AdMob. Information that the super-secretive Apple doesn't really want to be known, especially by a competitor.
