I've been meaning to learn CSS for years (I think I bought the big O'Reilly book like 3 years ago), but have never really done it. And of course, the main reason to learn CSS is to redesign my blog (see previous attempts). So, I finally sat down this weekend and tried to do something with CSS. And while I can't say that I really know what I'm doing, I'm at least a little more dangerous now.
And to that end, my blog has gotten a facelift. And the good news is that I'm relying less and less on Movable-type's in-built templating facilities (which have always found to be confusing). Not only does this give me more control, but it also means that I should have a greater understanding of what's going on with my blog (in theory).
Big ups to CSSEdit, for making it almost point-and-click to try new things in CSS, and to Blueprint (which I found via Carl Tashian). For right now, Blueprint is actually doing most of the heavy lifting. But once I get comfortable with my new system, I should be able to rely more on "my" CSS, and leave the frameworks by the wayside.
Now to spend the next several days fixing things that are broken (*ahem*, archives, *ahem*), and learning more stuff.
