The Guts of a New Machine - The New York Times: John Gruber recently re-linked to this article about the ascendency of the iPod, and it was fun to re-read it. What really amazed me was how wrong all of the critics of and competitors to the iPod turned out to be. And I have a strong feeling that history is going to repeat itself -- re-read this article, and insert the word \"iPhone\" wherever it says \"iPod\". My guess is that we'll be reading that article in a few years (if the NYT is still around, anyway).
