"This Film Is Not Yet Rated"

I just finished watching the documentary about the movie rating system, "This Film Is Not Yet Rated", and here is my capsule review: it's not a very good movie. While it does highlight some series issues with how the movie ratings board is implemented, and the implicit form of censorship that arises from said implementation, the movie itself is kind of a mess. There are large sections that are tangential to the overall point of the film, and it makes almost no effort to present a counter-view to that of the film's producers.

So, let me save you 90 minutes: the MPAA ratings board cloaks its activities in secrecy (which the film says is bad), is far more lenient in allowing violence in movies than sex (which is also bad), has an appeals system that is neither transparent nor fair (bad again), involves clergy in the appeals process (bad?), and doesn't involve any experts from the field of psychology in the ratings process (bad, of course). And to make matters worse, because the film industry is controlled by a very powerful cartel of companies, the ratings board is neither going to change nor go away any time soon. So sleep tight, America!

Man, if sneaking into an R rated movie was harder than tying your shoe, this would be an issue. Do they have security or something in movie theaters now?
