Whistler awesomeness

In case you haven't read it on Kristin's blog or Mark's blog we went to Whistler the last weekend. It was awesome. Mark and his wife (who are the most accomodating guests I have ever hosted, btw) came down on Thursday. We took them out to Blue C Sushi - not great sushi if you're a sushi snob, but a really cool place and one of our favourites because of the abundance of veggie options - and they really liked it. This was naturally followed by a visit to the awesome cake shop right next door. Every meal should be followed by some good coffee with a bite or two of the sweet stuff.
The next day, the Zinthefers went out to Seattle to do some touristy stuff while I put in some hours at the day job. Oh, Mark and I went out and rented our ginormous SUV - it was the biggest "car" I have ever driven. I think I've seen trucks that are smaller.
Post work, we were off to whistler. Quick stop in Bellingham for gas and an unsuccessful trip to the Sports Authority (or some other generic store of that sort) for swimming trunks. Everyone except Kristin neglected to bring swimming trunks. Long sighted about certain things as she is, Kristing got 4 extra swimming things for the girls. So the guys tried to buy a set at the sports authority rather than go in boxers or even worse, European style. The short of it was that the trip was not successful and boxers it was.
Stopped in Vancouver for dinner. We were hungering for indian food and wanted curry at any cost. Well, the cost turned out to be some pretty poor curry, but oh well. It was in canadian$ and cheap as heck. I drove a car full of sleeping people into Whistler around 11.30 or so and that was curtains for the night.
Snowboarded the next day (the Zinthefers skiied). The snow wasn't great - it was a good deal better than the Thanksgiving trip but not good enough to loosen up a bit and fall. However, it was a lot of fun riding with the gang and everyone was about the same level so we all hung out together and did the same runs. I was the slowest, but everyone else was super nice and didn't bitch about it at all (they all waited for me at just about every junction). Which was super and really made my trip.
We did Whistler mountain on both days followed by visits to Splitz, admittedly the best burger place in Whistler. Mark drove back on Sunday night and got us from Whistler to Seattle in about 4 hours - without speeding too much too. That kicked ass.
All in all, an excellent trip - excellent enough to make me want to go to Tahoe with the same folks (and lots of others). Yahoo!!
