• A shiny new ornament for your Linux lawn: Ars reviews GNOME 3.0: The new GNOME looks pretty cool, but the influence of the Mac OS X user interface is clear.

• Ballmer wants Microsoft store count to match Apple's: Every time I pass an Apple Store, it is reasonably crowded. In my one experience at a Microsoft store, there were people, but it wasn't a crowd.

• Graphene transistors may self-cool, lead to greener tech: interesting development, from my alma mater, that is still in it's infancy.
