Opinion: In 2009, Microsoft Still Underestimates the Web: I actually tried to download Windows 7 throughout the day (I was thinking I could try it out in VMWare on my iMac), but so far, no dice. My guess is that they didn't go with BitTorrent because they're trying to control the number of copies released (why?), and because of NIH syndrome.
Ces 2009: Sony Vaio P Super Don't-Call-It-a-Netbook Hands On: The netbook space continues to see tons of innovation. This new Sony machine looks pretty cool. I suspect that the high price is going to keep me away in the short term, but if Sony releases a second model (hopefully with Nvidia-fueled graphics) -- that might be mighty hard to stay away from.
Palm strikes back with new OS, pré handset at CES: So, Palm actually announced their new handset, the pré, and accompanying OS, WebOS, at CES. And as I predicted, there is actually something here. I'm not going to bother with speculating with how the pré stacks up to the iPhone until the former actually ships. But for right now, the point is that I'm interested, and I'll definitely be spending some time in the Sprint store when this new phone comes out.
It's the paradigm, stupid: hands-on with OQO Model 2: A decent first look at the new OQO, from Jon Stokes. While it looks like the OLED model is going to start at $1400, apparently the display is amazing (I'm looking forward to seeing more OLED screens around). In terms of the OQO itself, it looks like Vista is holding it back (no surprise). I'm still interested in touching one, but the likelihood of a purchase is remote.
VAIO P vs Eee PC... fight! - Engadget: This is why I want a netbook -- when compared against a MacBook Air, see how much smaller the Sony Vaio P is?
