OSCON: I'm hosting a BOF!

It's that time of year again: O'Reilly's Open Source Convention starts next week. I'm going again this year, and as I was perusing the list of BOFs the other day, I noticed that there weren't any dealing with my current hot-button issue, blogging. So, I done volunteered to host one, and the suckers at O'Reilly fell for it.

Yup, I'm hosting "The blogging BOF". I''m pretty excited about this prospect, but also more than a little nervous. I'm not planning on preparing too much for it (which is good, because I don't have a lot of time), but still, I'm worried that it's going to be all awkward silence and nervous coughs. So, if you're going to be at the conference, please come and join me, because a BOF is only as strong as its participants.

This blogging BOF better be over by 7P so as not to delay my dinner!

1) Are you going to focus on business blogging at all? Or just more of a general overview?

2) When are you headed back to CA? Sarah and I were thinking about coming down to Portland on the 6th.

Justin,

My first thought was to focus on business blogging, since that topic has been occupying like 50% of my brain power for the last two months (the other 50% has been going to "Marble Madness"). However, for the OSCON audience, I didn't think that would necessarily fly.

So, I'm going to try and skew things more towards how blogging can help form communities, aid software development, and act as an activist platform to promote a particular idea (Open Source, for example).

I also want to talk about what sorts of technologies are coming down the pipe that will affect blogging (PubSub, for example).

And it's a BOF, so who knows where the conversation will go. :)

I'm trying to get people in my group to start blogging. Go Andy!
